Let’s face it, being the only person who "looks like you" in the room can be isolating and depressing. Having to overanalyze your tone, your appearance, your actions, can be disorientingexhausting and can lead to imposter syndrome. Hustle culture, high change, low boundary work environments, and the stress of having to engage in extra emotional labor can lead to anxiety, burnout and conflicts in your personal life.  Feeling like an outsider to the “Bro culture” of Silicon Valley can trigger old and new insecurities and can cause loneliness, low self-esteem, and body image issues. Not to mention the pressure and stress of rolling layoffs and downsizing. If you are one of the thousands of folx that have been laid off recently (or if you fear being laid off), you may be experiencing layoff grief, career disillusionment, loss of identity or depression.

To cope you may be turning to outlets that are hurting rather than helping

It's ok to ask for help! Many successful people mask their mental health struggles through outward achievement. A helpful quality but one that can lead you to suffer for longer than you need to.

If you are ready to live a better, more balanced and fulfilling life please contact me. Although I serve adults of many identities and life circumstances, queer folx and women in tech often find I am a good therapeutic fit. I am not only an experienced psychotherapist, but I am a former tech executive. My clients get the depth of a traditional therapist and also benefit from my years of hands-on professional experience. As a queer, gender non-conforming woman and as a person in a bigger body I know firsthand what it feels like to operate in spaces that may be hostile to your identities. Having a therapist with this kind of lived experience can be very helpful - the outward pressure you are experiencing is not theoretical for me. I have literally been there.
